Brighton Property Benefits From Retail Growth

Brighton Property Direct read with great interest the news published by the British Retail Consortium’s (BRC) Retail Employment Monitor (REM) that around the UK over 22,000 jobs have been created within the retail industry with the opening of 500 new stores.

Brighton, and in particular, the Churchill Square Shopping Centre is at the heart of the areas retail activity.  Brighton attracts shoppers from all over the county, and with those shoppers comes increased industry for the bus companies, the coffee bars, the restaurants and bars. So this growth spells good news for everyone in Brighton and Hove as the boost to the entire economy feeds through to the population.

The shopping area of Western Road has largely avoided the crisis which has hit so many other towns High Streets – with both the major retailers and the smaller independents having to close down – but then remaining shut, or having the temporary retailers set up stall selling low quality goods before de-bunking!

True, Brighton has lost its Woolworth’s as well as a number of other popular names – but these spaces have been quickly snapped up by other names such as H&M, with new names like Abercrombie and Fitch also looking to move into the area

On their website The Brighton and Hove Business Forum predicts even greater growth in this area which is so key to Brighton and Hove’s economic success.
