Brighton Property Benefits From New Businesses in Brighton
Posted on | August 6, 2010 | No Comments
Brighton Property values and popularity depend, for a major part, on the overall economic strength of the city. Amid genuine fears that the recession brought of mass unemployment in the area – which thankfully so far have failed to manifest - one of the positive side-effects has been the boom in new business start ups – and Brighton is right at the forefront of that boom.
Over the past twelve months 395,000 new companies have been registered with Companies House – and of course, that doesnt figure for all the new sole-traders or private partnerships or LLPs!
Industry commentators suggest that this boom in new businesses is largely due to the internet. People recently made redundant have seen a stifled job market and given the relatively low set up costs of online businesses have been putting any redundancy payment or savings they may have to good use.
Brighton and Hove especially abound in this area of expertise. For a long time it has been acknowledged as a focus for the gaming industry as well as web design and other related industries – in fact it is estimated that up to approximately 16 % of employment within Brighton and Hove is within this field of commerce.
The beauty of this new wave of industry and self-reliance is the security it potentially offers – its often easier for a one-man-band to weather lean times than a company with overheads and 10 staff salaries to pay – plus this is definitely the direction that commerce is going to go, and for Brighton and Hove to be at the cutting edge of this movement bodes well for the economic well-being of all its citizens.

Brighton Property Benefits From Retail Growth
Posted on | August 6, 2010 | No Comments
Brighton Property Direct read with great interest the news published by the British Retail Consortium’s (BRC) Retail Employment Monitor (REM) that around the UK over 22,000 jobs have been created within the retail industry with the opening of 500 new stores.
Brighton, and in particular, the Churchill Square Shopping Centre is at the heart of the areas retail activity. Brighton attracts shoppers from all over the county, and with those shoppers comes increased industry for the bus companies, the coffee bars, the restaurants and bars. So this growth spells good news for everyone in Brighton and Hove as the boost to the entire economy feeds through to the population.
The shopping area of Western Road has largely avoided the crisis which has hit so many other towns High Streets – with both the major retailers and the smaller independents having to close down – but then remaining shut, or having the temporary retailers set up stall selling low quality goods before de-bunking!
True, Brighton has lost its Woolworth’s as well as a number of other popular names – but these spaces have been quickly snapped up by other names such as H&M, with new names like Abercrombie and Fitch also looking to move into the area
On their website The Brighton and Hove Business Forum predicts even greater growth in this area which is so key to Brighton and Hove’s economic success.

Brighton Property Performance April 09 to April 10
Posted on | August 6, 2010 | No Comments
Brighton Property prices have fared well over the last three years and in relation to the rest of the UK, extremely well. With cities like Leeds and Manchester still struggling in the doldrums, with no short term signs of any uptrun in property prices, home owners in Brighton can consider themselves very fortunate to have invested their money in Brighton and Hove.
Independent property consultants and monitoring body www.home.co.uk have published their findings as to price performance and it makes for encouraging reading.
See the link above for a graph illustrating the average prices over each of the last 12 months of sales – and it shows that flats (by far the bulk of residential properties in Brighton and Hove have risen by 18% in the last 12 months)
So, far from the property crash, which was a real possibility for everyone in Brighton and Hove (and has been something of a reality for other cities) property values have not only retained their value – they have gone on to healthy growth!
Brighton and Hove residents can take comfort in the fact that they not only live in the happiest place in the UK – but also their investment seems to be just as happy as they are!

Brighton Comedy Festival – Bringing A Smile to Brighton
Posted on | August 3, 2010 | No Comments
Brighton Property Direct is always pleased to promote the arts and entertainments activities that occur here inthe city – and a perennial favourite has to be the Brighton Comedy Festival.
This year they have a great line up of familiar names, top tv draws, as well as emerging talents that are the names of the future.
Amongst this years line up there’s Jimmy Carr, Al Murray, Mark Watson, Ardal OHanlon, Julian Clary, Tommy Tiernan, Russell Kane, Sarah Millican and Stewart Francis – so with these names you’ll know exactly what you are getting and can look forward to your evening with confidence!
But its also really worth while checking out some of the unfamiliar names this year. The event has gathered such prestige that it can afford to be fussy with the names it chooses to present – and that means that the acts they’ve screened and allowed through to their itinerary offer great value – as many laughs and fewer pounds form your wallet!
A particular favourite is Zoe Lyons – surely one of the sharpest, most quick witted comics out on the scene today – having won a number of awards she’s one of the acts emerging into the public consciousness that is definitely destined for long term success. She’s playing on the 22nd October and as a local Gal you can guarantee there’ll be a big demand for tickets.! We’ve been to see her several times and she never fails to amaze! She can pick up on the most RANDOM comments and riff endlessly – I once heard her entertain us on the topic of high class cutlery sets for more than 10 minutes as the result of a random comment from the audience – demonstrating that she is just funny to the bone and can produce to demand.
Check out the Brighton Comedy Festival website for more details and bring a smile to Brighton.

Why Choose Brighton Property – Part Three: A Growing City
Posted on | August 3, 2010 | No Comments
Brighton Property is often simply viewed in the context of its proximity to London and the opportunities that can afford the Brightonian resident – the benefits of the sea shore life, combined with the earning potential of London careers! But along with the growth in population that the city has experienced there has also been a growth in business – both the large corporates moving in as well as the home grown entrepreneurs!
Major employers based in Brighton include American Express, GMA Commercial Credit in the Finance world, Norwich Union as a major insurance organisation, Brighton and Hove City Council offer a wealth of admin opportunities as well as roles for people with specialised Housing knowledge, health care provision etc.
The largest single industry employer in Brighton is, of course, the catrering industry, with The Grand Hotel acting as the flag ship for employment opportunities but with literally thousands of smaller hotels and inns offering employment then this is an area which provides a forum for both the professional wishes to develop thier career – as well as the temporary staff looking to pass a summer in the city.

Why Chose Brighton Property – Part 2 Investment Value
Posted on | July 19, 2010 | No Comments
Brighton Property represents a wise choice on more than just the lifestyle choice level! Even through the past few years volatile market Brighton, along with perhaps only London, has managed to not only maintain its property values - it has continued to grow in value.
Brighton Property offers a number of specifically positive points for the buyer – and especially the first time buyer.
The population of Brighton continues to grow year on year – and although by anyone’s calculation proeprty can be expensive here – it still offers a sound investment future. The young professional is far more likely to be able to afford a studio apartment in Brighton than London – and that studio will be far more attractively located in Brighton than it certainly would be in a London suburb. The purchase of a studio in Brighton will offer a better location than say a similarly priced London studio out in Zone 4 – a location which still allows for easy after work travel to meet friends on the sea front for a beer, or a group evening out for pizza. Living in Zone 4 of London then its unlikely you’ll get home after work and be prepared to retrace your steps back into town – and whats left over from your living costs similarly discourages you!
But what of the property value of your residence? Can the young Brighton professional be as confident of their investment as their London counter-part?
Historically the answer has been yes. In terms of percentage rates at least. Year on year Brighton property has out grown most other UK cities, even allowing for the huge surges that swept liek waves over some Northern cities like Leeds and Manchester – a wave that ebbed just as fast as it arrived! The average percentage growth for each of the last 5 years has been in the range of 10% – even absorbing the big dip that threatened to burst through when the whole UK market was losing its nerve.
RDA Property Services are a dedicated property investment company focussed only on Brighton and Hove – and after 15 years of property value growth they see no sign of the trend really ending. Jean Shillinglaw, the company MD says:
Brighton and Hove, as a city, is set between the immovable boundaries of the sea and the South Downs – and with a popluation growth which is greater in percentage than even London – more and more people are wanting property in a land space which CANNOT expand – the demand for existing property will only increase. Quality developments outside the city will take some of that growth stress – but, of course, people moving to Brighton want the Brighton lifestyle – and thats not to be had 30 minutes drive out of the city!’

Why Choose Brighton Property – Part One: Recreation Time
Posted on | July 19, 2010 | No Comments
Brighton Property has never offered better investment value or quality of lifestyle. Sitting down on the South coast- nestled between the beach and the South Downs, Brighton provides a multitude of entertainment options as well as lifestyle choices.
With London being only 50 minutes on the fast trains from Brighton and Hove, the city offers a great base for commuters who want to maximise on the earning potential of a London job without the vast expense of London living. London is, of course, one of the greatest cities int he world, but Brighton competes on a slightly different level. The commuter, having disembarked from his or her train on friday evening is faced with a weekend full of possibilities: a weekend stretched out on the beach with the occasional dip in the sea to cool down; a wander round the trendy and stylish Laines with perhaps a lunchtime bite to eat in one of the hundreds of pubs, bars and restaurants the city offers; meeting up with some friends in one of the many sea front bars to have a few beers and a good chat; a visit to the Pavillion, the art gallery or the city museum; a walk along the South Downs with stunning views over the coast line and northwards to the North Downs; widsufing, kite surfing cayaking etc etc; yoga classes,Buddhistmeditation classes, running groups and rambling groups; cycling along the miles of sea front cycle paths;
all of which are all within close walking distance (or in the case of the South Downs a 15 minute bus ride costing £2.80 return).
Brighton Property – whether you rent or own gives you access to a vast range of activities as Ive just detailed – and this is surely one of the reasons why Brighton Property Market is still so thriving and why the population of Brighton increases year on year!

Brighton Property Direct – New To Brighton
Posted on | July 16, 2010 | No Comments
Brighton Property Direct is being launched today! Being launched at a time when as property owners in Brighton we’re all experiencing a strong sense of uncertainty about the Brighton Property Sales Market, the Brighton Property Lettings industry and what best we should be doing to secure our long term investments.
But it is exactly at this time that we believe the services we are aiming to provide to the city are most needed. The property sales market has taken an upturn in the last few months – although lending still struggles to keep apace – which makes it more important than ever to be able to find the correct local expert that can lead you through the pitfalls and trials of buying, selling, renting and letting.
Brighton Property Direct is an independent organisation that has no formal links to any of the big national players – but instead seeks to operate as a gateway to the local providers who know the area and have specialised local understanding.
Brighton Property Direct has watched the vagaries of the property market with close interest, as, along with most everyone else in this country, our home forms part of our long term insurance against old age poverty.
So the potential that our long term investment could have crumbled before our eyes, with the recession blowing around the globe, has been averted (for the time being at least) by the fact that Brighton and Hove continue to fare so well in terms of being the destination of choice for so many home hunters
The city of Brighton and Hove has fared extremely well in a number of reports into which cities were considered the best places to live in the UK, - consistently being in the top 3 – and that has meant that despite the recession, Brighton and Hove residential property has not only held its value, but continued to grow in the face of adversity!
Helped largely by the fact that approximately a third of the University population that graduates each year chooses to stay in the city – putting pressure on the first home market, the continued migration from Londoners looking for a better quality of life without sacrificing any of the cultural opportunities a large city can offer, as well as all those envious people who read the statistics about how much happier than the rest of the country we in Brighton are, all means Brightonians can be more pleased with themselves than ever.
